How to Choose Image Resolution for Print and Web Use
Choose resolution from the final size and viewing context. Web work is checked by pixels and placement width, while print also depends on paper size, viewing distance, and detail.

A phone photo may be enlarged into a blurry poster, while a web page may carry tens of thousands of unnecessary pixels. A DPI value without a final physical or display size cannot prove suitability.
