“Include end date” changes both the day count and the calendar breakdown
Keep the same two dates and check “Include end date”: Total days becomes 31, not 30, because the end day itself is now counted — and the calendar breakdown changes from “0 years, 0 months, 30 days” to exactly “0 years, 1 month, 0 days,” since Jan 1 to Feb 1 is precisely one calendar month once the end date counts. This is the most common source of an off-by-one surprise when this tool is used for billing periods or lease lengths.
Weekday/weekend counts ignore public holidays, and date order does not matter
The weekday/weekend split only checks whether each date falls on Saturday or Sunday — it does not subtract national holidays, so a range spanning a public holiday still counts that day as a “weekday.” Entering the later date as the start and the earlier date as the end does not break the calculator either: it automatically swaps them internally and reports the same absolute distance, so there is no need to double-check which date field you typed first.
