Confirm the length slider and character composition

The page loads at length 16 with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols all checked. Every generated password is guaranteed to contain at least one character from each checked class before the remaining slots are filled randomly from the combined set and the whole string is shuffled — so at 16 characters with all four classes checked, you are certain to see at least one of each type, not just a statistical likelihood.

The strength meter is a simple length-and-variety score, not a real crack-time estimate

The strength label and colored bar are computed from length thresholds (12, 16, and 24 characters) plus how many character classes are checked — it does not model actual entropy, dictionary attacks, or known password-cracking speeds. A 24-character password using only numbers can score as “strong” on this meter despite far less real entropy than a shorter password mixing all four character classes, so treat the label as a rough nudge, not a security audit.

Unchecking every character class blocks generation entirely

Uncheck all four boxes (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols) — leaving only “exclude ambiguous characters” as an option — and clicking Generate produces no password at all; an error asks you to select at least one class instead. Checking “exclude ambiguous characters” removes the letters O, 0, l, 1, and I from whichever classes are active, which shortens the effective character pool slightly and can matter at very short lengths.

  • The strength label is treated as a rough length-and-variety hint, not a measured guess-time or entropy calculation.
