📄 Free PDF Tools

The PDF category gathers free tools to merge, split, rotate, delete and extract pages, reorder, convert to images, and compress — helping you organize documents, reports, contracts, and teaching materials. Merge, split, and similar organizers run locally; PDF to Word, table to Excel, and the new API compressor temporarily receive files for conversion.

Tools in this category:11 tools

Combine several files into one with Merge PDF, or slim content down by splitting, extracting, or deleting pages. Rotate and reorder fix scans that are sideways or out of order, while PDF to Image and PDF Compressor help you share or send files. These tools are free, need no sign-up, and require no desktop software.

When to use these tools

How to choose the right tool in PDF Tools

This section works from the category’s own FAQ — everything runs locally, but editing body text is not supported — to show which of the nine PDF tools fits a specific document problem rather than listing what each one does.

Distinguish "keep some pages" from "remove some pages" before picking a tool

Extract PDF Pages keeps the pages specified, in the order specified, and discards the rest; Delete PDF Pages removes the pages specified and keeps everything else. For a 40-page contract needing only pages 3–5 for a summary, Extract is the direct route; for the same contract with 2 blank pages to remove and everything else kept, Delete is the direct route. Using Extract to remove 2 pages out of 40 means manually specifying the other 38 — technically possible, but Delete does the same job in one step.

Fix orientation and fix order are two different tools, not one

Rotate PDF corrects pages that scanned in sideways or upside down; PDF Page Reorder changes which position a page sits in, without touching its orientation. A stack of scans rotated 90 degrees but in the correct sequence needs only Rotate PDF; a stack that is right-side up but in the wrong sequence needs only Reorder. A scan that is both sideways and out of sequence needs both tools — reopening the file to check both problems separately, rather than assuming fixing one fixes the other, catches the case where only one was actually needed.

Match the compression expectation to the content, and remember output has no watermark either way

The category FAQ states directly that compression varies by content — scan-heavy PDFs compress more, text-only files less — and that no FunnyTools output ever carries a watermark. Before compressing a text-heavy report expecting a large size reduction, check the file’s actual composition first: a PDF that is mostly typed text and vector content may already be near its practical minimum size, and pushing the compression harder risks blurring any embedded images without meaningfully shrinking the rest.

Category selection check

  • Chose Extract when keeping a specific few pages was the goal, and Delete when removing a specific few pages was the goal — not the same tool for both.
  • Diagnosed whether a scan’s problem was orientation, sequence, or both before picking Rotate PDF, Reorder, or reaching for both.
  • Checked whether a file is scan-heavy or mostly text before expecting a specific compression result, since the two compress very differently.
  • Reopened the output file afterward — nothing is uploaded and no output carries a watermark, but page order and content still need a manual check.

Images to PDF

Turn ordered JPG or PNG images into one PDF, ideal for scanned photos, receipts, or notes.

Rotate PDF

Rotate the whole PDF or selected pages by 90, 180, or 270 degrees to fix scan orientation.

FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded?
It depends on the tool. Merge, split, and similar organizers run locally; PDF to Word, table to Excel, and PDF Compressor temporarily send the file to the Conversion API.
How much can the PDF compressor reduce size?
It varies by content; scan-heavy PDFs compress more, text-only files less.
Is there a file limit for merge or split?
No hard limit, but very large or many files depend on device memory.
Do processed PDFs have a watermark?
No, our tools never add watermarks to output files.
Can I edit the text inside a PDF?
Tools focus on page-level tasks like merge, split, and rotate; editing body text isn't supported yet.
